Every single update - stuck at 0 kb/s having to reopen the launcher for a hour to get the download. Is there a solution to this problem? Every time a update hits my launcher is 0 kb/s and I have to reopen it a hundred times because it downloads a little, goes to 0 kb/s, connection error, then just sits there. Under msconfig, select the boot tab, check safe boot and network under it, then OK to reboot into safe mode. Remember this, as you'll need to uncheck safe boot to return to normal. Confirm you have a internet connection under safe mode, as most software will be disabled, which may disable your connection. Try patching. It's not stuck per se, it does download something and the file amount goes down every time i close and reopen the client, albeit just a little. While it states that the game is playable some areas just wont download, foreground or background and thus I cannot play properly. I tried to download the game but i couldn't get in to download site. I couldn't find anywhere else to download the game and steam is temporarily removed the game i guess. I got in once, played just fine for 30 minutes. But after a quick log out, now I've been out for the last hour. On the launcher, it says it's signing in with steam, then after a minute of loading, errors out with: "The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time."
Players diving into Guild Wars 2 on the Windows OS will need the latest version of DirectX 11 to play the game. Note that this is the only version required to play the game, which means it will nee

It means that my journey can be unique to me, I can fight off some hungry bears and then go hunt some wild boars, while my friend a day later could experience something different. GW2 doesn't push you to go somewhere, and people used to that might find the game dull as they follow the worn and beaten path. -1.

Instead, create a Games folder on C:\ or on a separate partition if present, then create a subfolder called Guild Wars 2 . Place the GW2 installer in said folder and rename the file to Gw2-64.exe . Execuse the file. See if this solves your problem (s) permanently. Edited October 23, 2021 by Ashantara.8731. 1.
The problem is the patch servers can host incomplete files. If a specific file is 10 MB for example, the server may only have the first 5 MB of it. When GW2 goes to download this file, its length doesn't match what it expected so it tries again and again ( sample from 2020 ).
i tried to download GW2, it downloaded like 20gb since yesterday, but the files remaining is not moving. and i searched %temp% and the game folder, i cant see any files added Gw2.dat is 6GB since yesterday, still not moving. where does the patcher download? and is it moving or im just wasting bandwidth. (bloodsucking ISPs)
Ironically, this was a problem 3 years ago when I was taking a break from the game. I basically followed the idea on page 3 from @SoulCaptive.9645. After editing the host file on my pc and restarting the launcher, the download is working normally for me again. Makes me wonder what is happening on the back-end that allows for this to work.

assuming you have internet elsewhere and GW2 is the only thing that wont "connect/download". the output will be a table of ip addresses from your device/computer/gateway to arenanet's servers, during this route/path you can find out where your connection drops off and is unable to proceed. this may help in diagnosing your issue. byQwK.
